If you are a landlord and own any properties in the Nottingham City boundary, then you need to be ready for the new Selective Licensing Scheme which is being introduced by Nottingham City Council.

All landlords need to be ready to comply with the requirements by 1st August 2018. We wanted to give some information about the scheme so that you can get ready for the implementation date.

What is the Selective Licensing Scheme?

The scheme has been introduced by Nottingham City Council to try and raise the standards of privately rented property within Nottingham. They want to ensure that all tenants have a safe, comfortable and well-managed home to live in. From 1st August 2018, it will be a legal requirement for all landlords to have a license.

How much does a Selective Licence cost?

• If you already have accreditation through either DASH or Unipol the license is £400.

• If you do not have accreditation then the cost is £655.

The selective license for landlords is valid for five years.

If you do not already have accreditation, then it is worth considering this to help reduce the cost of the license and to ensure that your properties are at a high standard. To register for an accreditation visit these websites: DASH or Unipol.
